The inaugural winter season at the Welland Indoor Paddle Tank is ready for transition to the Waterway. With over 1,000 people participating in activities at the Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC) tank this winter, the multiple programs and offerings had much success. The ice has cleared, spring has sprung and the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation invites you to join us at the ‘Tank to Waterway Celebration’ on Saturday, May 2nd, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at the WIFC North Course.
After learning the technique in the Welland Indoor Paddle Tank through free Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund (OSRCF) Indoor Paddle Tank Programming or club programming, the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation would like to celebrate the hard work during these winter months and transition to the on-water action. With a FREE barbeque courtesy of OSRCF, the community is encouraged to get out on the waterway during this FREE event in beginner rowing shells, dragon boats, canoes, and kayaks with local clubs providing flatwater tips to those interested. Rowing machines (ergs) will also be made available for the public.
Whether you have participated in every Friday night free programming session through the Boarding Pass Program, or have never participated in a flatwater sport, everyone is encouraged to come out from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, grab a paddle or an oar and give a flatwater sport a try!
