About

Use of the Welland Canal Waterway

In 2008, the Welland International Flatwater Centre served nearly 10,000 people in 14 events on the water. Economic spin-off of these events reached over $7 million. The involvement of the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation, ranges from completely producing an event, to collaborating with other dynamic sport or business associations and groups to deliver high quality events, to simple preparation of facilities for use by others.

We have an excellent reputation for being enthusiast and results-focused with an emphasis on fun, fair competition and a great experience.

WIFC is managed by the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation, established to improve, develop and protect the Welland Canal Waterway.

Administrative support for the WIFC is received from the City of Welland enabling the Centre to focus on delivering and developing the facilities for events and club/community programming.
