Dragon Boat Niagara 2015 is delighted to announce Niagara’s own RegattaSport as the Official Apparel Partner and Volunteer Outfitter for the two international championships taking place at the Welland International Flatwater Centre this August.
With the reduced temperatures being experienced and ice forming on local area waterways, many folks will be looking to expand their recreational activities onto and around the ice. Be cautioned that ice that may ‘look safe’, may very well not be safe and be too thin for recreational purposes. With many factors affecting ice thickness and the unpredictability of water and weather conditions, there is no sure way to guarantee the safety or thickness of ice.
Being a part of an Arts and Culture Legacy in Welland is as simple as stroking a paintbrush. The public is encouraged to leave their mark on the Pan Am Community Canoe through an easy paint-by-numbers station that will be set up at the Seaway Mall in a storefront, called the Community Project Shop.
The Welland Recreational Canal Corporation, in partnership with Dragon Boat Canada (DBC) and the South Niagara Canoe Club (SNCC), received funding to purchase dragon boats for permanent use at the Welland International Flatwater Centre (WIFC) from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario. The $123,800 grant provides the necessary base funding to acquire both large (20 person) and small (10 person) international standard dragon boats.
Approximately 40 St. Mary Catholic Elementary School students took part in the first of many Community Programming sessions at the Welland Indoor Paddle Tank on Wednesday, November 19th.
This past flatwater season, over 30 events were successfully hosted on the Welland’s Recreational Waterway at the Welland International Flatwater Centre North and South Courses. Hosting over 11, 000 participants throughout the season was no small feat and there are many individuals who deserve to be recognized for working hard and for making each event a success.

À la suite de la présentation avec succès des championnats du monde juniors et des moins de 23 ans de canotage de vitesse de la FIC 2013, la Fédération internationale de canotage a confié les championnats du monde de kayak-polo 2018 à Welland, en Ontario. La compétition de cinq jours aura lieu au Centre international en eau calme de Welland en août 2018 et on s’attend à attirer des équipes de 30 pays.
